Trading down in job battle

As the jobs market becomes more competitive, recruiters are reporting a substantial increase in the volume of job applications in comparison to the same time last year. Matthew Cook, Managing Director of Michael Page Finance and Page Personnel, reported an increase of around 20 per cent in the number of job applications. Despite the challenging jobs market Mr Cook had not seen a trend in which finance professionals were trading down to lower positions.
